Objectives and Description:

Engineering Energy Efficiency Feasibility Study Program helps fund studies to identify and quantify potential energy saving measures on natural gas consuming equipment, gas-related heating systems or facilities. Studies analyze an existing building or process to determine the changes that will increase its overall energy efficiency. Typical projects include thermal surveys, facility air-balances, HVAC audits, energy audits, benchmarking activities and equipment upgrade studies. Incentives include:

Commercial customers: 30% up to $4,000

Industrial customers: 50% up to $10,000 

One study /site/ year

$10,000 cap applies to multi-site industrial customers, one study per year

Objectives and Description:

Demand Response Contractual DR3 Program is designed to help manage the electricity needs of Ontario while also providing Ontario businesses a financial incentive to make energy management a part of everyday operations. For example, a facility could shed load by powering down non-critical equipment or shifting production to non-peak periods. Participation can take place in two different ways: a voluntary, flexible way to earn monthly payments or higher incentive rates in return for a mandatory commitment to take part in activation notices.

Objectives and Description:

The Audit Funding Program offers financial incentives to eligible business owners and tenants towards the cost of an energy audit to help prioritize the best opportunities to reduce energy costs. The audits provide businesses with the data needed to fully understand the financial benefits of installing a variety of energy-efficient measures. Funding is provided for up to 50 percent of the project cost where calculations are based on building size and audit complexity, and ranges from $5,000-$35,000.

This Initiative is designed to help eligible transmission-connected companies fast track capital investment in major energy-efficiency projects. The five-year program provides financial incentives to encourage investment in innovative process changes and equipment retrofits. In exchange, participants contractually commit to delivering specific conservation targets within a set period of time and to maintaining them over the expected life of the project.

Objectives and Description:

Aboriginal Community Energy Plan (ACEP) Program is a proposal-based program where an Aboriginal community or organization may submit a proposal for funding to develop or update an existing Aboriginal community energy plan to improve energy efficiency, reduce electricity consumption and assess opportunities for green energy solutions. Successful applicants to the new energy plan stream will receive up to $90,000; whereas successful applicants to the existing energy plan stream will receive up to $25,000.

Objectives and Description:

Process & Systems Upgrade Program offers financial incentives to qualifying businesses in upgrading their systems (upgrade should save at least 100 MWh annually). Incentives include:

  • up to $10,000 to compare the upgrades available for a key process or single system.
  • up to $50,000 for the in-depth technical and financial information needed to build a solid business case.
  • $200 per MWh for annualized energy savings; 70% of eligible project costs.
  • up to 80% of the salary of an on-site energy expert up to $100,000. 
  • up to 80% of the cost of a monitoring and targeting system – to a maximum of $75,000 per site.

Objectives and Description:

Audit Funding Program evaluates the current energy performance of a facility and can help determine the financial benefits of improving its energy efficiency. Incentives are based on the size of the building and cover up to 50% of the cost of the audit, to a maximum of $25,000. Additional incentives are offered to develop detailed project cost and energy savings calculations for potential projects identified by the electricity survey and analysis. Incentives cover up to 50% of the detailed analysis cost, to a maximum of $10,000 and are based on the cost of the potential project.
